House Church,

Happy Monday! I decided to change things up a bit and send my email at the beginning of the week. :)  I have a lot to share today, so I’ll get right to it!

House Church In-Person and on Zoom

We are still on a roll in person and on Zoom. If you’ve been joining us on Zoom, thank you for your patience as we continue to work out the best audio/video for you. Our goal is to switch to live streaming in the near future, so be on the lookout for that information if you are watching services virtually. There is room in the House for you!

Lent Devotionals

Once again we have purchased these awesome devotionals for Lent that we want to give to you. There are two different ones available - one geared towards families with kiddos, and one geared towards adults - but both are so fun!

Spiritual practices that help us return to the text each day, like doing these devotionals, can help us stay connected to God and to each other. I really hope you’ll do them with us. Maybe you’ll want to read them each day and then reach out to a friend from church to discuss! And, the coloring pages are a fun stress reliever. I put them out on my kitchen table with coloring pencils so we can all color on the pages throughout the week.

Printed copies will be available at the church on Sundays, but you can download the digital copies right now for FREE. Just look for the Lent Devotionals tab in the church app.

Opportunity to Help Ukrainian Refugees

My cousin, Richard Nungesser, is the founder of Bread of Life International. HCT has supported this ministry in the past, and they have done amazing work for 20 years feeding, sheltering, clothing, etc. forgotten people in Poland. Now they are actively providing humanitarian aid to refugees from Ukraine who have had to flee from the Russian invasion.

I know many of you are looking for ways you can help right now, and I wholeheartedly trust Richard and Bread of Life. You can know that your money is going to its intended purpose, to help those in need in this heartbreaking time of war. HCT is rooted in Tulsa, but we have an international reach! Giving to this ministry is one way we can extend our love and care for the most vulnerable among us.

If you would like to give, you may do so through our app (download here) or through our text-to-give number (Text "GIVE" to 1-405-331-6245). Just indicate in the note section that it is for Ukraine. We have set a support goal of $1,000, and I believe we can exceed that goal. We will collect all of the funds and send one sum to Bread of Life. I look forward to reporting back with how much we raised! Continue to pray for all of those affected by this war as well. Prayer is our most powerful tool.

Walking the Bridgeless Canyon

Kelly Kemp is going to lead a group through Kathy Baldock’s book, Walking the Bridgeless Canyon. Here is a brief description of the book:

In Walking the Bridgeless Canyon: Repairing the Breach between the Church and the LGBTQ Community, Baldock uncovers the historical, cultural, medical, and political filters of discrimination through which the LGBTQ community is seen. With a foundational context firmly established, she examines the most controversial filter of all: what the Bible says about same-sex behavior.

The group will meet virtually on Thursdays at 6:30pm for one hour, beginning on April 7th. There is a discussion guide that acts as a companion to the book, so you will need to pick up both for the group. Please text or call Kelly if you plan to attend.

Also, if you really want to join in this study but finances are a barrier to your participation, please let Kelly know so the church can offer support!

Final Thoughts

In my last email to you, I shared that I was going on retreat. I want you to know how grateful I am for that time and all that I received from it. Reconnecting with the Spirit and with myself in that space was exactly what I needed.

Yesterday was my first Sunday back behind the pulpit since my retreat, and it was so good to be back with you all in that way. I shared about my time in the “wilderness” since I have returned and all that I’ve been learning about how we can show up as our authentic selves. Unfortunately, we had some technical difficulties and the recording didn’t work, so the service isn’t available in the app as it normally is. But I will be continuing to share more in the coming weeks. I truly do believe the best is yet to come for us, House Church. I am continuing to receive vision for this church and remain committed to leading you forward in Love.

Announcements and Thank Yous

  • House Church will be on Zoom this Sunday and in-person at 10:30 am.

  • Thanks for your generosity to keep the ministry financially healthy! We are able to keep the bills paid and give hospitably to those in need inside and outside our church. Together we bless so many lives. The ministry and message of our church will outlive the pandemic for generations to come!

  • Coffee & Theology (CAT) Wednesdays at 8am. Recordings available on the app afterward. This is a time to get deep with spiritual concepts and ask difficult questions. Video call link: https://meet.google.com/iwe-peof-oex

  • Download our church app to access everything (including zoom links for services, which are the same every time) past service recordings including CAT, and you can give from there, too. Be sure to check out the “Audios” and the “Daily Devo” section of the app: https://tithely.app.link/house-church-tulsa
