House Church’s mission is to connect people with God and with one another in an atmosphere of love and grace.
House Church began in 2014 in the heart of Tulsa—around a living room coffee table, shared meals, and big dreams. A small group of friends gathered with a vision to reimagine what church could be: inclusive, intimate, and rooted in a spirit of love. Since 2015, gatherings have taken place in the lower level of First Lutheran Church at 13th and Utica, where it’s grown slowly and beautifully into a community unlike any other.
House Church is a fully affirming, open-hearted and open-minded, faith community. LGBTQIA+ individuals, straight allies, the divorced, the married, the spiritually curious, and those deep in faith all find space to breathe and belong. Doubt and faith aren’t opposites here—they coexist and make space for one another.
Sunday morning gatherings are medium-sized averaging 60 people and include skilled nursery care, children’s church and youth group.
The people of House Church hold a wide spectrum of theological understanding and expression. When language like “us” or “we” appears, it refers to humanity as a whole —not a specific group within House Church.
God & Relationship
God is deeply relational—engaging, responding, and inviting humanity into the ongoing work of co-creation.
Scripture & Sacred Story
The Christian and Hebrew scriptures are honored as sacred and foundational. These texts are not viewed as inerrant but as living, layered, and complex—inviting thoughtful engagement, intellectual curiosity, spiritual discernment, historical-critical interpretation, and open conversation
Jesus
Jesus the Christ is a paradox of transcendence and immanence, divinity and humanity. He is the eternal God who chose deep solidarity with us. HCT seeks to understand what this means for people. Christ Jesus, the beloved of God, in whom the whole of humanity is placed. Read More
Trinity
The Trinity is a mystery to explore — an invitation into wonder rather than a riddle to be solved. Rather than imagining God as a solitary ruler seated on a throne, the Trinity points to a dynamic and eternal relationship: not a hierarchy, but a flowing movement of love between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism
Water baptism is an outward expression of divine love and belonging. It is an act of identification with Christ’s death and resurrection, but not the means by which salvation is achieved. The true baptism that transforms is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Read More
A Universal Vision of Redemption & Salvation
Christian theology has often used the terms redemption and salvation interchangeably, but a deeper exploration reveals distinct, yet interconnected, meanings. We start with the assumption that redemption in Christ is for all the cosmos, while salvation is a personal participation in that redemption. Read More
Not Fear-Driven, Not Literal or Closed
Fear-based theology and the belief that love, grace, or belonging must be earned are gently but firmly set aside. God's love is not a reward—it is a gift. A closed, rigidly literal belief system does not define faith here; instead, openness, curiosity, and trust in divine generosity shape the journey.
Sunday mornings at HCT are a time to be fed—through Bible-based messages, spirit-led music, and the joy of gathering alongside a diverse and welcoming community.
HCT Children’s Ministry helps children to learn about God in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
HCT Youth group is a space for imagination, wonder, and engagement with the stories of the Bible and each other. Through contemplative practices, we create an environment of presence and reflection, encouraging a phone-free space for meaningful connection.
